Dennis Helfer (born in Donalda, Alberta) and Elaine Helfer (born in Donalda, Alberta), were his parents. Her heritage includes German, English. Swedish and Norwegian. She studied at the William E. Hay Composite High School of Stettler situated in Alberta. Her sisters Tammy, Tara, and Trena also worked with her at the farm where she worked on her grain. When she was 17, The agent from her modeling agency noticed her while in line waiting at a theater.
